This study investigates the phenomenon of code switching and code mixing utilized by Indonesian English teachers. The research aims to explore the frequency, types, and reasons behind the occurrence of code switching and code mixing in English language classrooms in Indonesia. A qualitative approach is employed, involving observations and interviews with English teachers. The findings reveal that code switching and code mixing are prevalent in English teaching contexts, with various motivations such as facilitating comprehension, expressing identity, and filling lexical gaps. The study highlights the complex interplay between English and Indonesian languages in educational settings and underscores the need for further research to better understand and address these linguistic phenomena in language teaching practices.
