Learning the Qur’an is a fundamental obligation for every Muslim, as it is directly connected to essential acts of worship such as prayer, Hajj, and supplication. This study highlights the importance of Qur’anic reading skills as a primary focus in Islamic education. The research aims to examine the implementation of the Iqra method in Qur’anic reading and writing instruction at Muhammadiyah 3 Al Furqan Private Islamic Elementary School in Banjarmasin, and to evaluate students’ comprehension outcomes using this method. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved reduction, presentation, and verification techniques. The findings reveal that both private and classical teaching methods have been implemented effectively, while independent learning has not yet been adopted. Furthermore, students’ comprehension in Qur’anic literacy is supported by specific teacher strategies, including the use of Student Achievement Cards (KPS) to monitor progress, and Evaluation Tests to assess accuracy and fluency in Qur’anic recitation based on tajwid rules. These strategies contribute significantly to improving the quality of students’ Qur’anic reading abilities
